Darkness d Fire Spirits #4 Samantha Young 9781484158494 Books Reviews

It was nice to get some closure on things as Ari stumbles through finding ways to help herself an her friends.

After asking Azazil for something that leaves him so drained he can barely move, unexpected events ensue that could cost every human their lives. Ari has to try and fix it by it won't be easy and she may have to make some sacrifices in order to save the world.

This book is more mushy than the prior ones and I didn't see that as an improvement. There is a lot going on and I thought that the Lilif and Asmadeus story lines were kind of unnecessary. Jai and Ari were able to reach some emotional completion about their fathers and those were interesting scenes.

Otherwise, it was a good read. It didn't keep me on the edge of my seat like the previous books in this series did, but I guess this book was the wrap up so it wasn't going to be as exciting.
It's been a while since I read the other books in the series so it took me a couple chapters to get back into the story, but once I did it was really enjoyable. There were a couple twists that I did not expect, but in the end everything was wrapped up well. I hope to see more of Fallon and Eli in the future!
The end is always bittersweet.

It had been quite some time since I had spent some time with Ari and Jai. And I honestly didn't realize how much I missed them until they were back.

This book is just full of amazing awesomesauce goodness. It honestly felt like three separate (but related and intertwined) stories built into one. Part One lays to rest some of the things we were left with at the end of Borrowed Ember.

I'm not one to put spoilers in to reviews, so this one is rather difficult for me to write. Let me just say Part Two and Part Three add some unexpected twists and turns that you are going to love.

The one thing that I have to say that stuck out the most to me was how you can see the growth and change in the style of Samantha's writing. I absolutely loved how she branched out into the more "adult" world, and I do have to say, I was pretty surprised to see hints of that style in Darkness, d. Some of the scenes in this one between Ari and Jai....whoa!! Definitely a spice that was only eluded to in the other books.

I loved how much of a part some of the minor characters played in this one. We get a bit more enlightenment as to what's going on with Trey and Glass and the true depth of their relationship is fully realized by the time you get to the end of the story.

The still not fully understood relationships between Ari and the other Jinn Kings, especially Red, get a bit more of an explanation and time to develop.

Again, without giving anything away, I had mixed emotions about Ari and Charlie. It was one of those experiences where you knew WHY something had to happen the way that it did, but it still didn't make it any easier.

All that said, I truly enjoyed this awesome capstone to the Fire Spirits Series. I will miss Ari and Jai, Trey and Glass, Fallon, Michael, Red, White, and even Azazil and Asmodeus. This was an amazing and unique storyline. Well written, Ms. Young!!
I have been anxiously waiting for the continuation of Ari's story and was psyched when I checked to see that Darkness d was ready to be downloaded. Woo Hoo! Samantha Young nailed it! The twists and turns, the suspense, the nail-biter scenes kept me wanting more! I could not turn away. I stayed up way too late reading just to find out what was going to happen next. Samantha Young did not disappoint. This series is a must read for any paranormal reader-lover. *LOVE*
So many emotions are coursing through me right now that I don't really know where to start. This was 100% a bittersweet read to me. I absolutely could not wait to get my hands on it, but at the same time, I knew it was the last book in a series that I totally did not want to end. And what a finale it was!

This book was divided into three distinct parts. I'm assuming (though I don't know for sure) that each of the sections were going to be the three books that this was originally supposed to be. Even though I would have liked more books, I think Ms. Young made a smart decision by combining everything in one book. The pacing in this book was perfect. There was never a dull moment, but at the same time, nothing felt rushed. Had this been broken into three books, I think there would have been some major pacing problems resulting from trying to stretch not enough information over too many pages.

What else can I say about this book? Ari is still a strong heroine. She has really come into her own and was very take-charge in this book. I like that. She doesn't let other people push her around just because she hasn't been in the Jinn world for as long. On the same note, her decisions are actually smart and make sense. So often I read about strong-willed heroines who don't want to listen to anyone and who end up making things worse instead of better. that was not Ari at all. She took what she knew and made the best possible decisions she could for her circumstances.

Jai is still totally drool-worthy. He and Ari have their highs and lows, they both have strong personalities and want to be right, but at the end of the day, they love each other and their relationship feels real. It isn't all rainbows and butterflies all the time; they butt heads but then they make up and move on. I love them together.

I think Trey and Glass is weird, but I think its because all we get to see of Glass is his stoic facade. We know he cares about Ari and Jai; we just don't get to see it as much as, say, with Red, who is very outspoken.

This book did a great job of tying up loose ends, but at the same time, I would not say No to another Fire Spirits novel. This series is one of my faves and I am sad to see it end but love how it ended.

5/5 Stars
