Abby's story will take you on a journey filled with the challenges of growing up and dealing with the hurdles you encounter along the way. I absolutely recommend this book to all readers who enjoy a book that will pull at your heart strings but also teach you the real value of loving someone with dignity, unselfishness and respect. Her story is flawless in its delivery and will sweep you along on her emotional journey.

"A gentle tug is all it takes," might have been the author's first thought when he wrote the opening hook of a young girl's infatuation with a singularly wonderful boy. Then, once we are settled in for a simple love story, C.E. Lemieux Jr. pulls us faster and faster through what soon becomes a fabulous storyscape in the life of a beautiful woman.
Abby Lynn McAllister is a tomboy with her heart set on one man, or boy as he was back then. Her best friend and hero, Henry Newburn was destined to be hers; she just knows it. Like every relationship, though, theirs has obstacles that require both patience and love, but it isn't until tragedy strikes that Abby Lynn learns the true depth of Henry's love for her.
As the story unfolds in Forgan Oklahoma, a sparse little town just far enough inside the panhandle to make travel to anywhere almost a villain in Abby Lynn's journey through life, we realize the author has granted us a genuine time-stamped peek into the heartlands of this country. C.E. Lemieux Jr.'s true gift, however, is how he populates this real place with characters that, though flawed, are often sprinkled with an underlying sense of goodness that I can only hope will rub off on his readers.
I whole-heartedly endorse this book. After all, it could also serve as a blueprint to a more fulfilled life.

This is an easy-reading, family-type story which keeps your interest to the end. It is a cute story about how a little girl under certain conditions grew up in the Oklahoma panhandle. It is also a clean story (no profanity) and takes place in the tiny town of Forgan.
Wonderful book, kept my interest totally! I think this author has a great future as a writer! Sounds somewhat like Nickolas Cage writings. Great!
The author's vivid description to details makes one feel as if they were sitting on the scene in every chapter. Although I did not grow up in the Ok Panhandle it brought back memories of my childhood and small town USA. After reading this book I wanted to get into my car and drive around the streets he talks of so fondly.
The book is a heart warming story of kids coming of age and sharing a lifetime of laughs, loves, and losses. Hard to put down once you start reading.
This book really needed to be edited better, way to many words are together and that makes for disruptive reading instead of a nice flow.
This book was not marked as a teen book but it reads like one. I realize the book took some license with the town of Forgan but if you know the area some of the things that were written and the time frame they were supposed to be in also made this book not have a nice even read. Try again CJ because I believe you have potential you just didn't quite make it with this one.
I highly recommend this novel for those who believe in true love and if you don't, you will after reading this beautiful novel. Abby Lynn will remain in my hearts forever. Her daddy told her, "When someone hurts you, love them in spite of it. That's the best way to get back what's yours, Abby Lynn, to love them. They can't help but love you back, eventually." Would this prove true?
There are some very profound statements made in this novel and sometimes prayers are answered. Abby endures some tremendous trials throughout the years. Does love endure all things?
Heartache initiates a journey toward understanding. Some wounds take longer to heal than others. You will ask yourself as you read this wonderful novel, is the pain of being alone worse than the pain of heartache? Do you give someone a second chance?
This is not a predictable novel and I feel Abby Lynn will forever live in your heart, as she will mine. I can still hear the whisper in the wind of Abby Lynn.
