My initial reaction upon completing Come Together was that I had wasted my time. I originally thought, "Boy meets girl, boy and girl get together, boy and girl break up, boy and girl get back together: how predictable can you get?" I was also unimpressed by the stereotypes of people in their late twenties that are used to depict the main characters. Thus, at first glance, I was ready to discard this book into the "mistake" pile. But, something kept telling me that I was not giving the book enough credit. So, I went back and reread it. That's when I noticed the wonderful scene where Amy describes her disappointment in discovering that she's not the first woman Jack's taken to Brighton, even though she has little guilt about her previous twelve lovers. I also noticed the great scene where Matt defines the reasons why Jack told Amy about his unfaithfulness. I then realized what this book contains that allows it to transcend its simplistic plot. Simply put, there's an emotional honesty to the scenes that one doesn't usually find in a book that's so straightforward on the surface.
I should stress that Come Together is not great literature. But, it will make one reminisce about the feelings that everyone feels and missteps that everyone makes in the early stages of a relationship. Any book that can create that kind of emotional resonance is definitely a book that should be read.

Come Together Josie Lloyd Emlyn Rees 9780425176054 Books Reviews
The first Josie Lloyd & Emlyn Rees I read was We Are Family, which I thought was amazing, so I immediately ordered `Come Together' and Come Again.and read them back-to-back, hoping for more of the same.
However, these are nothing like `We are Family', primarily because these are essentially romantic novels, albeit with more interesting characters, but also because there was none of the "darkness" that made `We are Family' such a stunning read.
That's not to say that these are not enjoyable reads (`Come Together' more so, in my opinion) just in a very different vein.
`Come together' is funny, tender and very `real', maintaining the fine balance between being romantic and being soppy without ever becoming unrealistic. Furthermore, and unusually for a romantic novel, it has characters you can both relate to and care about.
`Come Again' is a sort of follow-on to `Come Together' in that it features many of the same characters, but they seem much more hastily put together, with far less depth to each in this one, so that I found it hard to become attached to any of them... in fact, they were only just likeable. Its saving grace is that, for a novel of its genre, it is definitely not predictable, and it made me smile on quite a few occasions.
I recently came across this while cleaning out some old books, read a few pages, and decided to put it back on the shelf for a re-read soon.
Come Together is chick lit of the British variety, and an excellent example of the genre. The twist in this one is that the co-authors, male and female, write the chapters alternating between the male and female characters' first-person voices, giving a multi-dimensional view of the relationship and the events. Like Bridget Jones, there is lots of insecurity and amusing goof-ups before the relationship can really happen, but this time it's not just the female being spazzy.
And it's often laugh-out-loud funny. What made me decide to re-read it was finding this passage again( this is Amy, the female protagonist, calling her best friend Helen the morning after meeting Jack, the soon-to-be boyfriend)
H (sleepily) Hmmm?
Me (a pause, just so she'll know it's me) Blachhhhhhhhh! (I inject this greeting with as much postpuking throaty misery as I can muster)
H Blachh-blachh-blachh? Or just blachh?
Me Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaachh!
H I'll be right over.
I love H. She understands me.
What's not to love? If you are a fan of Brit chick lit and are looking for a fun read, check this one out. It's a few years old, but well worth looking for.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever been in a relationship and wonder what the other person was or wasn't thinking. Who hasn't? It will make you laugh out loud. I have recommended it to all of my friends - married, involved, dating and lonely - and all have loved it.
This book totally blew me away. It's whitty, romantic, and done right honest. I love the beginning, middle and end. It's amazing. I plan on giving this book to all those single gals (like myself) this book for their birthday's. I know they will love it as much as I did. GET IT TODAY...you'll love it too.
This book was a very fun and flirty story told in an interesting way. The authors used a "he said-she said" style to narrate, alternating each chapter. It was this twist that helped me through the book at a couple of thinner points in the tale. While I didn't really laugh out loud, the book is still humorous and entertaining and I recommend it for nice light reading.
Contemporary romance. Good character development. Enjoyable read. Perfect if you have some time on your hands and don't want to get too engrossed in a gripping drama/thriller. A lot of alcohol is consumed though...
